August 27th 2016 Small project at home

This is what we did today. It took us all day, my husband and I, but that’s okay. We have to do things for ourselves.

We put two peaces of plywood down for a floor to keep them off of the ground.

I don’t know if they have taken advantage of it yet.
We are going to get some straw and enclose this front side that you see. The left side is the North side and I am hoping it keeps out the cold winds.
It may not be perfectly square or plumb but when I asked the dogs to raise their hands if any of them objected – we didn’t get any hands up.
This is how it works.

Review of Evangelist Anita Martir Rivera’s Youtube channel…Open Your Eyes People

Anita is one of the many Youtube channels I review. I have been a subscriber to her for over 10 years now. Her channel has evolved from Anita Fuentes to Anita Rivera. She is a preacher and talks about current events that relate to the word of God.
I just want to say that I do not totally believe the way she does, but I know that she speaks about things in her heart and is a believer in Christ.
If you want proof we are living in the last days, then she may be what you are looking for in current end times and how it relates to a biblical perspective.

If you don’t believe we are living in the last days, she may very well change your mind. Please let me know what you think.

Almost end of semester.

It’s almost the end of my 3rd semester at college.  I had decided to return to school after being out for 13 years. Not really because I was board but to prove to myself that I am still smart and able to learn new things.

I wasn’t totally sure what classes I was going to take but I knew it had to be something with the law. I looked into going back to a four year college and either get another 4 year degree or go for a master’s degree. But then I looked at how long that would take and realized that would not be something I would like to do. So I decided that having an associates or technical certificates would better  help my career and life goals.

I feel that education is very important and I love to surround myself with smart people. I told my husband that and looked at me and asked me if he was “chopped liver.” “No, honey. You Have Street Smarts”. It is true.  I have the book smarts and he has the street smarts. There are things that I don’t know that he knows.  Just like there is stuff that he doesn’t know.

I had started writing this on my phone but it wasn’t working right so I have come to finish on my computer. I just wanted to update you about things happening in my life. Although I can’t get super personal about things, I do try to write about things that may be interesting to you.

Today I am going to the Arkansas Literacy Festival which will be downtown Little Rock. I will take some pictures to share and will post them later. Have a good day folks.

Later,

Random Update from Blogger

Hi everybody, it’s a new year and I just realized I haven’t posted anything. Well, so I am still here. Been busy but still here.
I would like to tell ya’ll a little bit about what I have been up to. Going back to school again. I say again because I accidently forgot to get things squared away to get funding for last semeser in time so I missed out. Things have gotten better at home – in our little cabin. I don’t have any new pictures to post but I will as soon as we get over this terrible weather.
Here are some little things that have changed in my life.
    Work is better.
     Co-workers are better.
    Hubby is better.
    Doggies are better.
Going to school part-time and working full-time.
Making better food choices to eat better. (Trying to and going to follow a diabetic diet eventhough I am not diabetic yet – I expect I will be if I don’t do something now.)
    Son is better.
Finances are better. (Still have internet to write this blog. lol)
I can still make the best sweet tea in Arkansas.

I have so much to say and that I want to blog about that I don’t know where to start. I think I will start with what I am doing. Going to school. Getting an associated degree in Paralegal. I feel like a professional student. I have a bachelor’s degree in English and I have gotten a pretty good job because of it but it wasn’t a technical degree. I think this techcical degree will help me out in pursuing a career that is better suited to me.
Having this degree is just the first step I am going to take because I also want an associates in business with the emphasis in management and supervision. I never had any class in my four years at the university in how to manage others so I think this class will help me out a lot.
I am taking 3 classes online. One is a business class in Office Supervision and Management. It is pretty detailed but as long as I can keep up I think I can get an “A” out of this class. The teacher is pretty strict but since it is an online class I know I can take my time and learn on my own. Another class is called Torts. I had the teacher for a class I had last Spring called “Wills”. I didn’t do as well as I thought I would in that class. I had only gotten a “B” because I didn’t know what to expect from the class nor the teacher. But I think this time for this class I can get that “A” because I am that determined to learn this stuff. And my last class is called “Legal Writing and Research II” from a teacher who I have had 3 previous classes from so I know what to expect from her. I have learned a lot because it is a webinar class and we have actually had to meet at a law library here in Little Rock. I love to do research and and the writing part is right up my ally.
I will try to get some pictures of things on here instead of all this typing and reading because I know you would rather see pictures. So here are a few from my facebook page that I would like to share.

Cyber Monday and other things

I don’t get it. Cyber Monday is supposed to be all about buying online but I think with Brown Thursday added in – it just might get washed under the bridge. I personally have not bought a single thing online but it’s really not my thing.

A lot of things have changed with our little home. I’m not looking forward to the cold weather eventhough we don’t have much space to heat – a measly 336 square feet. I have found lots of websites of other couples who have downsized. We have downsized for economic reasons. It’s cheaper living and less house work(haha). I hated having to try to clean a big 5 bedroom house. It’s so much easier now.

If you haven’t seen the picture of our home then you aren’t missing much. I would just like to say that if there is one pitfall that small living has is the loud tv. My husband loves to have the tv on loud, as loud as it will go, and our 50 inch can get quite loud which can make it hard to concentrate or talk to someone on the phone.

After settling in, one of the first and best things we got accomplished was these step’s put in for front door. We had bought these online through Facebook for $65.00. They came with the non-skid carpet already attached. It was one of the best buys my husband has gotten so far. It took 4 men to load it onto a trailer and 4 men to take it off but only 1 to move it into place. Thanks to our neighbor across the road who used his small tractor and did it in a matter of about an hour.
As you can see in this (below)picture we have a new weenie dog, actually we have 3 of them. This one is Elvis chowing down on some food in their food bowl.
Our black and brown dachshound, Lulu even likes the steps.
As we make more changes, I will post more
pictures of our new abode.

July 7th

It’s only a couple of days after the 4th of July and only a couple of days until the passing of my father 26 years ago. Life has changed so much, and so has my life. I think I will start a new blog and let this one go so I can start fresh. I need a new outlook on life, and as soon as I get my new computer, I will start a new blog.In the mean time, I thought I would share some pictures. This first one is my new home. Not much, but it is enough.

This is Elvis. He is the love of my new life. He took Red’s place but more about that later, or you could browse through my past blogs to find him.
This is Missy. She is so sweet.
This is Baby. She is about 5 lbs smaller than her brother and sister, and she is a baby.
Left to Right: Missy, Elvis and Baby
My daddy’s tombstone.
My husband Eugene is standing in from the helicoptors at Camp Robinson, where he now works.
A bigger picture but harder to see.
Thanks for looking, and let me know what you think.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Memories

So if a picture is worth a thousand words memories,
what does this picture say to you?

If I tell you this is my mom, would that make a difference?

If I tell you that the lady to left is my other mother,
does that make a difference?

You may be wondering where this was taken?

Why did I take this picture?
And,

What are they looking at?
Well, to answer that question –

you will have to look at the next picture.

I am not sure why my mom is wearing that shirt
with the scary smiley face but it really
didn’t reflect her mood that day.

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and
the one thing she really loves is to listen to live music.

I remember every time a music event went on downtown,
we were there.

We never spend lots of money paying for concerts.
Maybe when Riverfest started
in downtown Little Rock,
we would pay the small fee but not no more.

I believe Music should be Free.

On the left, is my husbands legs.
The local Fire Chief is on the drums.

My brother is sitting in a chair
hiding behind the big speaker.

My brothers elementary school friend
is standing up playing the guitar, and
our oldest biggest sister,
that’s not related to us,
is singing backup.

My brother has been singing for years now.
I always knew he could sing.

I remember that growing up, when you wanted to hear music, you got out those big 33 1/3 records to play on the turn table.

The best thing about those turn tables is that if you wanted to replay a song or skip a song
 – it was as simple as lifting the arm that had a needle.

And I also had to clean the needle with my fingers
because it picked up dust from the room
which made the song sound funny.
I don’t know if there was a proper way
to clean those pesky needles
but I knew if blowing on it did not work then
using my fingers to clean it always worked.

I believe the song was a song by Neil Sedaka

I would replay this song over and over and we sang and sang.
I do believe we wore the record out.
At least that is what I think since I can’t find it.

One of the places we used to live was in
a little chocolate house that sat right
where this Donut Shop now sits.
It is also my understanding that this
Donut shop is now moving to downtown Sheridan
where the Road Runner used to be
and before that – It was the Posey Motel,
so it will be abandoned.

I wonder if it will be for sale?
So now on to a much happier subject.
We recently went to Home Depot and
as I was looking at the plants. I found this.
I’m not a mona but I am a lisa –
so therefore I love it.
This is a beautiful flower but I still love Marigold’s.

The Old Mill in North Little Rock, Arkansas

So today started out as a productive day.
I got up and dressed.
Brandon got up and dressed.
We took Lulu to what I thought was the right Vet clinic.
but it wasn’t. It was the only one I knew about
in the Levy area in North Little Rock.
I came to find out that I was at the wrong place.
Levy Pet Clinic is on 47th Street.
not under the Interstate by the railroad.
I could have sworn that that was Levy Pet Clinic
because we took Red there some time ago
but it wasn’t and the lady who did dog grooming
came out to greet us and asked what we needed.
After she gave me confusing directions to a clinic
somewhere on the other side of the interstate,
I asked her if this was Levy Pet Clinic, and she said no and told me where to find it.
So after successfully dropping off Lulu and finding out what was wrong
A SLIPPED DISC on her lower spine
We had to leave her so he could take some x-rays to make sure.
He gave her a steroid shot and he gave me some pills to give her.
After leaving and showing Brandon the little house we lived in when he was in diapers
I showed him how to get to the Old Mill
so I could waste some time and take these beautiful pictures with my cell phone.
Brandon Looking out at water from the foot bridge.
The Old Mill is on the right with the water wheel and a path leading down to the water.
The footbridge looking back towards the road.
Looking down at the water wheel from the Old Mill Building.
Looking out the window from the second story of the Old Mill Building.
The dirty brown water where the pond starts. I guess it is because it is still winter.
A sideways-looking view from the window over the water wheel.
Inside the Old Mill Building, looking up to the second level.
Looking out the window from the old mill.
Another view looking out the window.
I think this is the best picture I captured looking back towards the footbridge.
Brandon is looking out the doorway of the Old Mill Building.
Some people’s boats dock on the Old Mill Pond.
A view from the footbridge.
A view from the top of the foot bridge.
The Old Mill Pond on a Saturday Morning
And by the way, Lulu will be just fine.
